Bessie's Baby Shower

Bessie's Baby Shower on June 27th was a big success.

We put up a tent in the garden.

And put out lots of food and drink.

Eon (a former student) and his girlfriend Solange helped cook.

As did Shih Han and his cousin, Tsuey.

Tsuey also did her best to make sure there were no left overs.

I didn't need to eat. For some time I have been working on my belly perch for Bessie.

Manu and Isabel came with their beautiful baby, Anjali, who is just a week younger than Bessie.

Nirvani took to Bessie right away. Unfortunately, Bessie was not in a sociable mood that day. She even resisted Sarah's smile.

Although Bessie only made a brief appearance, everyone seemed to enjoy the food and the conversation.

Alex, Carolyn, Rebecca and Kristen, with Darren in the background.

Elizabeth, Eva and Babchia. That is THE Elizabeth as in Katherine Elizabeth, Bessie's full name. She is my mother's oldest friend and someone I've known all my life. She has always been a good friend to my mother and generous and warm to Shih Han and me.

Mixing of old and new-- Bob Ballentine, a friend I've known since high school and Kathy, a friend and colleague of Shih Han's from Stony Brook University Hospital.

Shih Han's neighbors from Ipoh, Malaysia, now of Brooklyn (and Tsuey)

And then there were the presents. This picture does not do justice to the pile of boxes with stuff for Bessie.

Some of the highlights were a "Future President" T-shirt, and a flat bear.
