Chinese New Year

We had a big Chinese New Year celebration this year.  We invited ten people and made enough food for 30.  Everyone chipped in, including Bessie.

Dinner started with lou sang-- a Malaysian tradition-- everybody at the table helps mix a platter of... I don't know.  I'll let Shih Han fill in the details.

Other dishes included: roast pork, stewed pork ribs, pork dumplings, beef rundung, shrimp in green curry, and dry chicken curry (pictured below).  A modest amount of vegetables were also served.  The lou sang is in the center.

Bessie was most pleased with the ang pow-- the envelopes of money given to children on Chinese New Year.  For now I think she is happier with the colorful envelopes than the money inside.  That'll soon enough.
